Refinery gives raw deal to Odia jobseekers: Sena

Published on:

Maintaining that a mere 85 Odia people have got contractual appointments at the Paradip-based IOCl refinery, the Kalinga Sena on Wednesday charged both the ruling BJD in the State and the BJP at the Centre for their silence on recruitment of Odia youths in the refinery.

“Both the BJD and BJP are contesting each other to take the credit for the IOCl unit. But they are not bothered about the fate of Odia youths, let alone the IOCl displaced people. Around 30 lakh educated youths are waiting for services in the State,” said party president Hemant Rath at a Press meet.

He said while as many as 143 people were displaced for the project, only 85 of them have got contractual appointments through contractors at the project.

He charged Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan for not showing interest for the appointments of Odia people.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate the Rs35,000 crore Paradip refinery project, which was established on 4,000 acre of land on February 7.
