Refinery commissions Kerosene, lPG Treater Units

Published on:

The Paradip Refinery on Wednesday commissioned its 1.2-MMTPA Kerosene Treater Unit (KTU), designed to treat straight run kerosene and produce Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) by removing H2S, naphthenic acid and mercaptans. Other residual impurities will also be removed in order to meet the stringent ATF quality standards.

Earlier on October 19, the refinery had commissioned 1.85-MMTPA lPG Treater Unit (lPGTU), which will remove H2S, reduce mercaptans and total sulphur from the feed lPG received from the INDMAX (FCC) and Delayed Coker Units.

The treated lPG will form the feedstock for downstream Propylene Recovery Unit wherein C3 and C4 components will be separated from lPG.

With commissioning of these two process units, the team at the Paradip Refinery has achieved another milestone towards achieving full operational status of the refinery, said a company Press release.
