In order to create First Aid and Certified First Medical Responder (CFMR) among its volunteers, a three-day training programme was organised by the Indian Red Cross Society, Odisha State Branch (IRCS-OSB) here from November 28 to 30.
More than 30 life members of the OSRB participated in the programme. They were provided basic training on disaster response besides skill development. The volunteers too participate in work development programmes in their respective districts during the normal period.
They were trained on how to act during disasters, how to ensure water sanitation during natural calamities like floods and cyclones, how to ensure a meeting between a missing person with his or her family members and how to cremate a dead body. Senior journalist Dilip Satapathy was the chief guest on the occasion.
