A day after Police Commissioner YB Khurania confirmed that wonder boy Budhia Singh and his mother Sukanti Singh are holidaying at Kodaikanal in Tamil Nadu, the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) of Khordha on Monday demanded that statements of the mother-son duo be recorded under Sections 161 and 164 of the CrPC, respectively, after their return to Bhubaneswar.
The CWC believes there could be some other reason behind their moving outside the State without permission of the authorities of the Sports Hostel, where Budhia was staying.
The committee also said it would visit the Sports Hostel to find out the truth once Budhia returns to the capital city.
Sources said the Kodiakanal police on Monday questioned Budhia and his mother following a request made by the Commissionerate police.
Khurania had said Budhia and his mother were traced to Kodaikanal and would return to Bhubaneswar by July 24 or 25 via Mumbai. He too dismissed the charge of abduction of the boy.
