Rebel Soumya launches Cong Suraksha Abhiyan

Former Pradesh Congress Committee president Niranjan Patnaik’s brother and former lok Sabha member Soumya Ranjan Patnaik on Monday administered the oath of discipline and dedication in the Congress to nearly 400 party workers belonging to 60 wards of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation here at a function organsied by a newly-floated Congress Suraksha Abhiyan.

Soumya Patnaik is considered to have become a rebel in the State Congress after Niranjan Patnaik was replaced by Jayadev Jena as the PCC chief.

“Blind loyalty is not discipline. Discipline will be more effective when the vision and intention of the party workers at the grassroots level will be similar and one,” said Patnaik, adding that if this happens there would be no scope for indiscipline.

He also urged the party workers to remember the dedication of the Gandhi family to the Congress and the country as well.

“Such events will be organsied at the grassroots level across the State in order to strengthen the party organisation,” said Congress Suraksha Abhiyan convenor Nihar Ranjan Pradhan.
