Panchayati Raj and Housing and Urban Development Minister Pratap Jena wrote a letter to the Energy Minister and the Principal Secretary of Energy by bringing to their notice the sorry plight of 8,000 employees, whose livelihoods are at a stake as the Tata Power has taken over the Cesu’s franchise.
Jena stated that skilled and unskilled employees were engaged under franchise system in Cesu for more than 10 years. They have a lot of contributions to the company as well as to the State as they were engaged in last three cyclones for restoration works. However, they are now going to lose their jobs as the franchisee has issued their retrenched order. As a result, 30,000 people are going to be affected, told Jena.
He requested to consider re-engaging them.
