Strict action will be taken against the accomplices of sacked millionaire Assistant Sub-Collector Prasant Kumar Rout, warned Revenue Divisional Commissioner ( Southern) T Ao on Thursday here.

The RDC first visited the Umarkote Tehsil of the district where large scale irregularities have been reported in different media. He inspected different records of the Tehsil and interrogated the staff members for four hours. A group of locals met the RDC and handed over a written complaint alleging illegality in several OLR permission and conversation cases in the Tehsil during the incumbency of the then tainted Assistant Sub-Collector Rout wherein some officials of the Umarkote Tehsils were also involved.

Besides that illegal use of a huge part of a forest land for stone mining near Siriliguda and Kesribeda village in Umarkote Tehsil has come to notice. The mining is carried out in the most unscientific manner using heavy machinery. Due to illegal sand and stone mining in the locality the State Government has been losing crores of rupees, they alleged.

Speaking to the media, the RDC said he has instructed the Collector, Nabarangpur to make an inquiry and take stern actions against the erring officials of the Tehsil. He assured to review the cases dealt by Rout.

Among others, Umarkote Bar Association president Prasant Kumar Sahu, Monohar Mohanty, Krtik Malik, Tuna Rath, Bhagaban Kollar and Sagar Agrawal were present.
