Despite the repeated reminder of the State Government to the Revenue Divisional Commissioner (RDC) Northern Division, Sambalpur to conduct an enquiry into the alleged scam worth Rs6 crore in the recruitment for the post of Revenue Inspector (RI) and Assistant Revenue Inspector (ARI) in Balangir district since September last year, the Revenue Divisional Commissioner (RDC) is yet to initiate the same.
In 2013 it was alleged by various quarters like Balangir Citizens’ Committee and Odisha Soochana Adhikar Abhijan that a huge scam of worth Rs6 crore was taken place in recruitment of RI and ARI in Balangir district in which the then Balangir Collector Debaraj Mishra now posted in the Home Department is involved.
During the visit of the Revenue and Disaster Management (R&DM) Minister Surjya Narayan Patro to the district last year he had directed his department Secretary Dr Taradatt to inquire the matter by the Sambalpur RDC and to submit the report within 30 days.
It was exposed through an RTI application filed by rights activist Pradip Pradhan that though the Revenue and Disaster Management (R&DM) Department has repeatedly asked the RDC to conduct an enquiry on August 6, September 21, October 7 last year and March 21, 2014 the RDC has not conducted any inquiry so far.
