The Home Department, in a letter to the Revenue Divisional Commissioner (Western Division) on Monday, asked him to complete the probe into the boat tragedy in the Hirakud Dam reservoir earlier this month and submit the inquiry report to the Government by April 19.
The RDC has been asked to furnish a detailed report about the cause of the mishap, the persons responsible for it and measures to be taken to prevent recurrence of such mishap in future. Over 30 people had met with a watery grave as an overcrowded boat carrying nearly 100 people capsised in the middle of the reservoir in the late afternoon on February 9.
