In order to perpetuate the memory of late Sakuntala Panda, an eminent writer and the editor of the most popular Odia magazine Sucharita, an ultramodern air-conditioned reading room with necessary equipment is proposed to be set up in the Rama Devi Women’s University at an initial cost of Rs 50 lakh.
The sum of money will be donated by Harihar Panda, a retired civil servant and husband of Sakuntala Panda.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to this effect has been jointly signed by the Registrar of the university and Panda on June 24 in the presence of the students and teaching staff.
Vice-Chancellor Prof Padmaja Mishra expressed her gratitude to Panda and wished that the project would be completed by the end of 2018.
