A second campus of the Rama Devi (RD) Women’s University would be set up at Vani Vihar, the premises of the Utkal University here, the process for which has begun.
Sources said the new campus would be built on 30 acres of land at the Utkal University premises.
The State Government has formed a special committee for identification of land and other procedures. A panel headed by Utkal University Vice-Chancellor SM Patnaik would identify land for the purpose.
The other members of the committee include RD Women’s University Vice-Chancellor Padmaja Mishra, the Higher Education Department Additional Secretary and a General Administration (GA) Department representative. Sources said the committee will submit a detailed report in this matter to the State Government by February 15.
However, later some students of the Utkal University staged a demonstration in front of the campus main gate on Wednesday protesting the Government’s decision to establish the second campus of RD Women’s University in the Vani Vihar premises.
