RCM students threatens to intensify protest

If the Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT) doesn’t take necessary steps to solve our certificate issue in its May 7 governing body meeting, we will intensify our agitation across the State,” Raza Quadir, an MBA student of Regional College of Management Autonomous (RCMA), told a students’ convention organised by the All India Democratic Students Organisation (AIDSO) here on Tuesday.

Quadir said the Odisha Joint Entrance Examination (OJEE) has been sending students to the RCM every year as the college has its name in BPUT’s website and counseling list. He alleged that the college authority has been issuing fake registration cards, provisional certificates and mark sheets in favour of its MBA and MCA students. On the other hand, the BPUT which has included the college in its counseling list denied issuing certificates in the name of the students, he added.

“The State Government is silently watching the irregularities of the RCM College on one hand and students’ indefinite dharna on the other,” said Quadir.  RCM students attending the convention discussed on ‘Protest against irregularities in affiliation, examination and fee structure in BPUT managed institutions’ and presented a resolution on manhandling the students late on April 28 night.

AIDSO State president Akshay Das, vice president Subhash Nayak, secretary Shibasis Praharaj and other student leaders attended the convention.
