RCM students hold mini marathon in city

MBA and MCA students of the Regional College of Management (RCM) on Wednesday conducted a mini marathon in the city demanding that the State Government sort out the problems relating to issuing of final degree certificates in favour of the pass-out students of the college.

Around one hundred students participated in the marathon that started from the RCM College to the Jaydev Vihar Square in the morning protesting against the callousness of the college management in delivering their certificates.

“We ran in the marathon to make the public aware about our problems. Through this marathon, we urge the State Government to help us out in getting our certificates,” said student leader Raza Quadir.

Seven days ago, a three-member delegation of the RCM students had gone to the Raj Bhavan and submitted a memorandum to the Governor. The Governor had assured them that he would look into the issue and a positive outcome would come out within seven days. “We hope the Governor will solve our problems soon,” said he.

Earlier, the students had staged two rallies near the Raj Bhavan and the State Assembly demanding issue of certificates for them. The students have been continuing their dharna in front of their college since February 11.Notably, due to a dispute over its admission into MBA course, the RCM has not been able to get certificates from the BPUT (Biju Patnaik University of Technology) since 2009 and, hence, has failed to provide them to the pass-out students.
