The journalists of Rayagada opposing a direction to submit their bio-data in the local police stations held demonstration before the Collector’s office and submitted a memorandum to the ADM.
The information sheet provided by the office of DI and PRO asked silly questions like political affiliation, association with any frontal organisation, whether doing any business, educational qualification, registration numbers of vehicles used by the scribes, etc, which were derogatory according to the resisting scribes.
Some of the scribes requested district Collector Guha Punam Tapas Kumar to identify the persons extorting money in the name of journalists. ADM Birendra Karakara had issued a letter to identify the journalists to the SP. In turn, the SP had asked to the DI and PRO for instructing all the journalists of the districts to provide detailed information directly in the police stations.
