Rayagada Poetry Fest on revival mode

Published on:

A preparation meet for the Rayagada Poetry Festival was recently held at the Thakkar Bappa Ashram here under the chairmanship of its president Ashok Kumar Sharada.

This poetry fest reflects the literary indigenousness and competence of poets and writers of undivided Koraput along with a synthesis of concepts and literary vibrations of eminent litterateurs and appreciators. The participants, while cherishing the past glory of the festival which has promoted many budding talents and felicitated many father figures in the field of literature and poetry, expressed concern over its discontinuity for the past three years.

Kirti Chandra Sahu along with Ramakanta lenka recently initiated a process of reviving the past glory of this literary fest. Following which, it was unanimously resolved to continue the event in the same nomenclature and with the same organisational structure ie Sharada as president, Sushant Nayak as secretary and Sushanta Deo as treasurer.

Initially, the members will contribute for its day-to-day expenses and later the organisation will seek donation from public and local corporate houses. It was also decided to do away with gifts to all the participants to meet the budget deficit. This year, instead of JK Paper Mills ltd, the venue will be Krushna Chandra Nagar Bhawan at Rayagada. Everybody expressed the need for a few more rounds of sitting before the festival is organised on January 19, 2014.
