A couple died and their son sustained injuries after a wall collapsed due to heavy rains in the district on Saturday morning.
The deceased were identified as Madhab laya (60) and his wife Jashoda (55) of Shulipada village under the Kalyansinghpur police station.
The injured son was rushed to the Kalyansinghpur Community Health Centre (CHC). Reports said the wall caved in while Madhab, his wife and their young son were sleeping in their house at night.
While Madhab died on the spot, his wife was rushed to Kalyansinghpur CHC, where the doctors declared her dead, said District Emergency Officer Babita Rani Dalabehera. The rain in southern district triggered a flood-like situation. Rainwater was flowing on roads disconnecting many parts of district from headquarters town.
