Ray meets PM for medical college in R'kela

BJP MlA Dilip Ray has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to give a push for the proposed medical college and super specialty hospital in Rourkela.

Meeting Modi along with senior BJP leader Bijay Mohapatra in Delhi on Thursday, Ray said though the PM has given a go-ahead signal for the project to be promoted by the SAIl, it has faced inordinate delay.

He said that at a pre-election meeting in Rourkela, Modi had laid emphasis on the need of a medical college and super specialty hospital in the steel city, where healthcare facilities are below par compared to other cities.

Ray recalled the PM’s pledge for upgradation of Rourkela’s 700-bed Ispat General Hospital (IGH) managed by the SAIl to a medical college-cum-super specialty hospital.

In this connection, he held discussions with Union Minister Steel and Mines Narendra Singh Tomar and requested for a speedy action.
