Ray blames CM for NFSA irregularities

The BJP organised a demonstration here on Tuesday under the leadership of local MlA Dilip Ray alleging gross violation in identification and distribution of ration cards under the NFSA in the state.

The party submitted a memorandum in favour of the Governor through the Municipal Commissioner urging him to direct the State Government to implement the NFSA in its true spirit.

The memorandum mentioned that Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, by launching the first phase ration card distribution for 14 districts on October 2 and distributing cards at Baripada on October 29 to mark the start of the second phase without proper verification of facts and status, has himself laid the foundation of large scale corruption in the process of implantation of NFSA. With this, the CM too encouraged the officials to continue issuing ration cards without proper verification required under the Central Act.

It too alleged that the Government has eliminated lakhs of poor people from the list whereas thousands BJD party-men and their followers have been issued cards.

“While lakhs of genuine families have been debarred from the list, BJD workers and leaders ranging from ruling party MlAs to elected representatives of urban bodies and gram panchayats have pushed their names into the list by illegal means. Such cases in large numbers prove that the whole process of implementing NFSA has been politically motivated, alleged Ray.

The BJP workers burnt an effigy of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on this occasion.
