Ace Odisha-born weightlifter Katulu Ravi Kumar tested positive for a banned substance and has been provisionally suspended for Anti Doping Rule Violation, the National Anti Doping Agency (NADA) has said.
Ravi Kumar’s sample had been collected during the 71st Men Senior National Weightlifting Championship in Visakhapatnam in February this year.
The 2010 Commonwealth Games gold medalist, who hails from Brahmapur, tested positive for anabolic steroid, reports said.
On the other hand, Ravi Kumar said that he had been consuming the particular supplement for a couple of years and it was banned by the NADA in January this year only. ‘I will appeal to the NADA to minimise the ban period,” he said.
