A day after he quit the Biju Chatra Janata Dal (BCJD) and joined the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) of the Congress, Ravenshaw University Students’ Union president Ramya Ranjan Behera on Monday took a U turn and announced his return to the students’ wing of the ruling BJD.

After an apparent meeting with some BJD Ministers in Bhubaneswar, Behera accompanied by Cuttack-Choudwar MlA Pravat Biswal and BCJD president and MlA Byomakesh Ray, told reporters here that he is back in the BCJD as the Government has accepted the demands he had raised for the university.

Notably, after he was reportedly assaulted by a group of students in the university campus on Friday evening, Behera had quit the BCJD and joined the NSUI at a function attended by PCC president Prasad Harichandan and AICC general secretary Subhankar Sarkar.

Reacting to Behera’s sudden change of mind, City Congress president Md Moqim said the ruling party might have brainwashed the young leader either by intimidation or by monetary allurement.
