Ravenshaw student stable after suicide bid

The condition of Bidhansu Tripathy, a final year journalism student of the Ravenshaw University who attempted suicide on Wednesday, was reported stable on Thursday.

But the doctors are keeping him under observation for 72 hours.

"We have washed his stomach thoroughly and he is out of danger. But since he is complaining of drowsiness and having regular hiccups, we have kept him under observation for three days," said a doctor of the medicine ward of the SCB Medical College Hospital.

Bidhansu (23) consumed pesticides in the chamber of the university Registrar after he was frustrated over the slipshod attitude of the university authorities towards the longstanding demands of the Journalism and Mass Communication students.
