The premier Ravenshaw University is running with a severe shortage of staffs in both teaching and nonteaching categories with 161 out of 267 teaching and 128 out of 137 nonteaching posts lying vacant now.
Besides, this unitary university has not received the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) status since its inception in 2006. The NAAC status availed to it as a college expired in 2009.
Higher Education Minister Pradep Panigrahy informed this in the State Assembly in response to a question of BJP MlA Dilip Ray on Thursday.
According to the information, while the university has sanctioned 29 Professor, 71 Associate Professor and 167 Assistant Professor posts, only nine, 32 and 65 men are in position, respectively. Similarly, only nine nonteaching staffs are in position against the sanctioned strength of 137.
