Ravenshaw fee hike: Students' stir enters day 3

Published on:

The dharna staged by students under the All India Democratic Students’ Organisation’s (AIDSO) banner in protest against the excess fee hike for various courses at the Ravenshaw University entered the third day on Sunday.

It is alleged that the university authorities instead of considering the demand of the students has rather adopted a revengeful attitude. “The warden of Bhargabi girls’ hostel stopped the lunch on Sunday, leaving the inmates starved. later, the students joined the dharna by holding utensils in their hands,” alleged a student.

The hostel authorities did not take any steps to re-operate the mess. In the absence of the deputy chief warden of the ladies’ hostels, the hostel inmates later requested the Registrar in-charge to reopen the mess. The warden of the Bhargabi girls’ hostel has violated the human rights by this act, a hostel inmate said.

The dharna was headed by AIDSO, Ravenshaw University Committee president Shibani Sahu, vice-president Shubhasmita Sahu and secretary Amarendra Nayak.
