The eligible ration cards holders of Pada Gram Panchayat under Bijepur block of Bargarh have been deprived of various benefits.
They alleged that those who have possessed ration cards by forgery have been availing the benefits at their cost.
In this connection, a delegation comprising Ashok Pradhan, Subash Chouhan, Debabrata Mishra and several other villagers gave a memorandum to the district Collector, Bargarh.
It may be noted that considering the rise in number of ineligible beneficiaries, during a special drive in past in all the 12 blocks, three NACs and the Municipality area of the district, thousands of ration cards were found to have gone into hands of the ineligible persons and Rs 16 lakh had been collected as recovery from them.
The memorandum alleged that there are still many ration card holders who are enjoying all benefits to the BPl by conniving with certain section of Government officials and political persons.
They threatened that if the district administration did not look into the issue and bring the culprits to book, they will resort to agitation. Among others, Durga Tripathy, Jaganta Shand, Mukesh Acharya, Bhagirathi Bheshra and Ramesh Sharma were present.
