Rath Yatra: RDC resents delay in plan submission

Published on:

With the annual Rath Yatra of lord Jagnnath and his siblings drawing nearer, Revenue Divisional Commissioner (RDC) Central Division AB Ota on Thursday held a meeting of all departments concerned two days prior to the second Rath Yatra coordination committee meeting.

The RDC expressed his discontentment over the delay in submission of action plan by the departments for the Rath Yatra to be held on July 6. Only the Public Health and Municipality had prepared the action plan. At the first coordination committee meeting, all the departments were asked to furnish an action plan for the fete. The Health Department district unit, which was the center of discussion for its poor health care, failed to prepare the action plan.

The RDC directed the Public Works Department (PWD), National Highway (NH) and the municipality to complete road repair works before the arrival of monsoon. He too asked the civic body to clean all drains as early as possible. The RDC asked the PHD to make functional all the overhead water tanks that had been erected before the Nabakalebar Rath Yatra year to meet the potable water needs of the city during the fest.

District Collector Arabind Agarwal was also asked to take stock of the work progress of all the departments on daily basis.
