Rath Yatra is theatre of the absurd: Freethought Party

Published on:

Maintaining that politicians can’t do politics without religion and urging all stakeholders, media houses, political parties, NGOs to lift the people from meaningless myths and rituals of lord Jagannath, the Freethought Party of India on Sunday said Rath Yatra of Puri is nothing but the theatre of the absurd.

“We should not say that Jagannath of Puri is the lord of the universe. Had that been so, all the world leaders like Barack Obama, Vladimir Putin, David Cameron and François Hollande would have by now thronged the Badadanda. Not even a single CM of any other State and the PM is coming to Puri,” stated party general secretary B Ramchandra CST Voltaire in a Press release.

“While doing a piece of blind belief-based religious work at Rajahmundry in AP, that is, while having the holy dip at a Puskar Ghat of the Godavari, 29 people killed in the stampede. This has been happening at other places. But our Chandrababu Naidus and Vasundhara Rajes are so power-crazy that they take it as the handiwork of God and they have got enough of State money to waste on premature deaths. We should put a stop to this,” maintained Voltaire.
