Rath Yatra was celebrated amid religious fervour and gaiety at the Shrivani Khetra of KISS here on Sunday.
Thousands of devotees participated in pulling the three decorated chariots of lord Jagannath, lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra, festooned with flowers, appliqués and mural paintings.
The Pahandi and other rituals like Mangala Arati, Mailama, Tadapalagi, Rosha Homa, Abakasha, Surya Puja, chariots’ inauguration were followed by a procession of deities from temple sanctum to the chariots.
Temple administrator Kamalakant Rout performed the holy ritual of Chhera Pahnra as founder of KIIT temple Dr Achyuta Samanta didn’t participate in any ritual as his mother demised last year.
The special feature of Ghosayatra was hat Devadalan, the chariot of Devi Subhadra was pulled only by females.
