A +3 final year Physics student of the Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS), Narasinghadev Kuanr, underwent a rare heart surgery at the KIMS here on Tuesday.
Kuanr was suffering from severe a heart attack and later rushed to the hospital for treatment. After primary investigation, it was found that there was a complete blockage in his right coronary artery which needed an angioplasty. Subsequently, angioplasty was conducted on him by Cardiology HoD Dr Panchanan Sahoo and his team successfully. The team used a special thrombus suction catheter to clear the blockage and an imported stent was placed.
Heath condition of Kuanr is now stable. It was a rare case as this kind of blockage is usually not seen in persons aged below 25 years.
While the total expenditure for the operation is about Rs4 lakh, all expense has been borne by the KISS, as Kuanr is a KISS student and his father is a daily labourer.
