Special POCSO Judge here Ajanta Sadangi on Saturday convicted a rape accused sentenced him to seven years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) besides slapping a penalty of Rs 10,000 and in default another 6 months’ jail term.
The convict Anil Malik (19) of Armala village under the Remuna police station had committed the offence against a 12-year-old minor of the same village in February 2013 and the incident occurred when girl was staying in her maternal uncle’s house.
He was tried under Sections 457, 376(2)(f) and 4 of Protection Of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The convict on February 6, in the absence of her of grandmother, committed the offence. Special Public Prosecutor Pranab Panda said the judgment was pronounced after cross-examining 10 witnesses and on evidence of eleven documents.
