: After hearing a case of rape of a minor girl that occurred in June 2022, Additional District and Session Judge cum Special POCSO Court sentenced the accused to 20 years rigorous imprisonment (RI) and slapped a fine of Rs 1 lakh on him.
If the money is not paid, the court ordered to serve another one year of rigorous imprisonment.
According to sources, on June 6, 2022, a 6-year-old girl of Dam Colony, Bargarh Ward No. 16, went to a shop near her home to purchase a toothbrush. KarthikFarika (27), who lives in Gandhinagar of the same ward, picked her up and raped her.
The minor came crying and told her family about the incident. She was sent to the Bargarh General Hospital for treatment. Later, the minor's mother filed a written complaint at Bargarh Town Police Station. In this regard, a case under IPC sections 363, 376 (A, B) and section 6, POCSO Act, was registered. The police arrested Kartik on June 8 and carried out further investigation under the leadership of Town Police Sub-Inspector Archana Chhotray.
The case was handled by public prosecutors Bimal Kishore Debta and Dyutish Acharya.
