Observing that it was a rarest of the rare case, the District Sessions Court here on Monday awarded death sentence to a man who raped and brutally killed a 60- year-old lady on February 27, 2011.
District Sessions Judge Kishor Chandra Mohapatra sentenced accused Mishra Paraja to death for murdering lachan Dei of Kesharbedha under Umerkote police limits.
The crime occurred at a cashew plantation of the village, while the accused committed rape and later murdered her by strangulating her. Based on the eyewitness, medical report and other circumstantial evidences, the court awarded Paraja death sentence.
