The Additional District and Session Judge, Jajpur on Thursday sentenced a 33-year-old man to seven years of imprisonment for raping a minor girl last year at village Ghagiasahi under the Kaliapani police station in the district. Besides, the court also slapped a fine of Rs2,000 on the accused.
Pronouncing the verdict in the sensational case, the judge convicted Bira Singh Munda of Chirgudania village under Sections 376 of IPC on the charge of raping the girl on February 28, 2013 at village Ghagiasahi while the victim was returning to her house after taking bath in a river.
