Special Judge of POCSO Court here Ajanta Sarangi on Wednesday awarded 10 years of RI along with fine of Rs 5,000, in default of paying the fine another three months of RI, to a rape accused.
Kanda Singh (22) of village Kharid Mukhura under the Remuna police station had sexually assaulted an eight-year-old girl on June 30, 2014.
The mother of the victim lodged an FIR with police. The accused was arrested following investigation.
The court after cross-examining 12 witnesses and going through 13 documents pronounced the punishment. Special APP Pranab Panda was conducting the case for prosecution.
