The family members, relatives and neighbours of a minor rape victim of Pagadapara village under the Balianta police limits on Saturday gheraoed the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Nitinjeet Singh alleging that the police are too slow to take action against the culprits.
According to the victim’s brother Minaketan Moharana, “Two youths Sukanta Guru (24) of Dhobaipur and Manjan Swain (21) of Gandilo under the Balianta police station on April 24 forcibly took
away my sister Mamita Maharana (name changed) with them near Sathilo village while she was returning from tuition. Then, they raped her in a coconut field and recorded the activities in their mobile phones.”
“We lodged a complaint at the Balianta police station on April 24, but to no avail. So, we gheraoed the DCP today and urged for justice to us and stringent action against the errant police officer,” said Minaketan.
Meanwhile, the Balianta police arrested the duo and forwarded them to court after getting strict instruction from the DCP.
