An alleged rape victim from Chakulipada village of the Naugaon area was admitted in District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) here after she consumed pesticide on Thursday.
According to sources, the victim was raped by one of her relatives on April 28 and in this regard a complaint was lodged at the Naugaon police station, but till date police did not take any step to arrest the accused.
Meanwhile a few villagers and policemen were mounting pressure on the girl’s family to resolve the matter amicably. This frustrated the victim who consumed deadly pesticide and felt unconscious. She was moved to the Naugaon hospital for treatment where her condition turned critical on Wednesday. later, she was shifted to the DHH.
