Police, on Wednesday, apprehended Majhia alias Gouranga Das, the third accused in the Sujata Bairagi rape and burn case.
As per the dying declaration statement of the victim that was video recorded at the SCB Medical College and Hospital at Cuttack in presence of doctors and a magistrate, the Dalit girl had told that she was not gang-raped. She had told that the accused allegedly had molested and stripped her and attempted to rape her.
The victim girl also in her statement had stated that apart from the two arrested youth, another person Gouranga Das alias Majhi was involved in the crime, informed Kendrapada SP Sarthak Sarangi. Earlier, Pradip Das and Ekadashi Das were arrested on July 29 and 31 respectively from the district.
