A person accused in a rape case escaped from hospital in Kendrapada despite presence of police on Sunday.
Raju Jena, the accused hailing from Bhekta village under the Talchua Marine police station in the district, had allegedly kidnapped a girl of the locality and raped her.
The family members of the girl had thrashed Jena and lodged a complaint with police regarding the abduction and rape.
The accused was later admitted to the Kendrapada District Headquarters Hospital, where he was undergoing treatment under police vigil.
However, he managed to give cops the slip and escaped from the hospital on the pretext of attending nature’s call. Till last reports came in, he was yet to be traced by police.
