Vigilance officials on Tuesday arrested Senior Clerk Bijay Kumar Sahu at the Rambha NAC in Ganjam district for demanding and accepting bribe of `3,000 from one Suchitra Pradhan of Biswal Sahi.
The complainant alleged that the ancestral landed property, which was recorded in the name of her father-in-law, was transferred in her name. She constructed an asbestos-roofed house in the plot and appealed to the Rambha NAC Executive Officer for issuance of Holding Number so that she would deposit required amount of fees.
The Executive Officer issued order for issuance of Holding Number. Thereafter, Pradhan repeatedly approached accused Sahu to issue necessary documents to this effect. However, Sahu demanded the bribe for the purpose. later, Pradhan reported the matter to Vigilance, after which a trap was laid and Sahu was caught red-handed.
