Maintaining that the report of the Bhubaneswar DCP submitted to the Odisha Human Rights Commission (OHRC) over their detention in the university campus on December 3 last year false, the aggrieved girl students of Ramadevi Women’s University on Friday submitted their counter reply at the OHRC.
The commission posted April 29 as the next date of hearing.
last month, DCP Satyabrata Bhoi had submitted a report to the OHRC on the alleged detention which reportedly stated that the allegations leveled by the complainants against the university authorities were false.
After observing the report, the commission had asked the complainants to file a counter reply by February 26.
The commission on December 5 had directed the DCP to submit a report on the complaint filed by some students of the university in which they alleged that they were locked up in a room before Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s visit to the campus on December 3.
They had urged the commission to intervene in the matter and direct the State Government to explain the reasons for their detention.
In their memorandum to the commission, the students had said they were not allowed to attend the CM’s programme.
