The encroacher is a man from Brajarajnagar, Nanda Kishore Agrawal, who is also the former Chairman of the Brajrajnagar Municipality and an influential person of the region. The allegation against him is he has forcefully occupied the land through forged documents.

As per information, the Ramji Temple in Farm Road, Sambalpur, has got 3.15 acres of land of its own. But through fraudulent practices, Agrawal has managed to get the Patta of the land from the local tehsil office, allged MLA Nauri Naik and other members of the Mandir Surakshya Samity.

“Not only that, Agrawal has also submitted a false affidavit in the Orissa High Court to mislead the court and get the ownership of the land,” Naik said further.

"Since Agrawal is a moneyed man, he is trying to take possession of the land though the help of the local police. But we will never let it happen,” warned Sudarshan Dora, a trustee of the temple.

Senior advocate cum Viswa Hindu Parishad activist Pradeep Bahidar has also warned in similar line. The way police dealt with the common people of Farm Road area who were protesting the matter, is nothing but atrocity on law abiding citizens, he said.

However, MLA Naik warned that if police side with an encroacher, they have to face the consequence since no one is above law.

When contacted, Sambalpur SDPO BS Udgata said, “Police have no role here. We have tried to maintain law and order.”

As precautionary measures, Section 144 has been clamped in that particular land and no side can now enter there. The sub collector will make a hearing of the case on November 11, the SDPO informed.
