Supporting the Narmada Banchao Andolan (NBA) hunger strike from April 26 in Bhopal, lok Shakti Abhiyan joined a protest rally at the Master Canteen Square Bhubaneswar.
Activists Prafulla Samantara, Prashant Paikray, Sibaram, Pradeep Pradhan, Pramodini Pradhan, Radhakanta Sethi were among the participants.
NBA led by Medha Patkar has been continuing since last 30 years for Justice to two lakh displaced people who are to be submerged in water. It is presently protesting the Modi Government arbitrary decision to increase the dam height to 17 metre by which another 50,000 people will be displaced.
The agitators alleged that neither the Central Government nor the Madhya Pradesh Government is implementing the Supreme Court direction for rehabilitation of the evacuees including providing land to the farmers
“This is completely violation of human rights on the people of Narmada Valley. Same thing is also happening in many projects like lower Indra dam in Nuapada district,” said a release of lok Shakti Abhiyan.
