Pressing for a CBI inquiry into the Ullasa Jena murder case which occurred at Pankapala village under Kujang block two years ago, villagers from the deceased village organised a Padayatra from Kujang and reached at district Collector’s office here and handed over a memorandum to the Collector on Tuesday.
The memorandum addressed to Principal Secretary Home, requested to conduct a CBI inquiry when State Crime Branch police have failed to nab the culprits involved in the crime two years ago. Reports said that deceased Jena was working in a licenced liquor shop at Pankapala. On November 5, 2016, he was found charred to death in the liquor shop. Ullasa’s family had moved Orissa High Court seeking to order an independent probe. Adjudicating the case, the court had ordered a State Crime Branch [CB] investigation on August 17, 2017.
“We have no faith on a CB probe; so we demand the CBI to investigate the case,” said Gati Krushna Satapathy, who was leading the Padayatra from Pankapala.
