The Bharatiya Khet Mazdoor Union (BKMU) on Wednesday staged a massive rally here demanding immediate allotment of land to the landless poor tribals in Raygada tehsil of Gajapati district.
“If the Raygada tehsil administration properly allots lands available in its jurisdiction to the landless tribal people then there will be no landless people in the tehsil,” said BKUM State unit secretary Subhash Chandra Rao.
Participating in the rally, BKUM State executive general secretary Sura Jena urged the administration to allot lands to the tribals staying on the hills at Hatninka, besides urging the Revenue Department to invite applications on its own to provide lands to the landless people in the tehsil. Hundreds of tribals participated in the rally decried the Government apathy towards their plight.
