Rakshi festival was celebrated on the holy occasion of Gamha Purnima (birthday of lord Balaram) with all rituals at the Jagannath Temple here on Monday morning.
Although lord Jagannath along with His siblings lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra is worshipped as ‘Avataari’ (Brahma) at the temple, He uses to act like a human being, follow all the rules and observe festivals on this occasion.On the day, Goddess Subhadra tied Rakshi (sacred thread), made by the Jaga Patara family of Dolamandap Sahi, to her elder brothers lord Jagannath and lord Balabhadra.The rituals were performed early in the morning due to the partial lunar eclipse. Because of the eclipse, other rituals of the deities were performed after 12.48 am.
