Rajnath urged to protect mutts, temples in Odisha

The Odisha Suraksha Sena has urged Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh to intervene in the current spate of raids and actions on mutts and temples instigated by “a host of pseudo secularists and rationalists” and to uphold the age-old tradition of spiritualism in Odisha.

“India is known for spiritualism. Spiritual truths and achievements reached by saints like Swami Shivananda, Shiridi Saibaba, Swami Vivekananda, Jogananda Paramhansha, Abhiram Paramhansha, Swami Ramtirtha and Shri Aurobinda are well accepted worldwide. As spiritualism is our way of life, it needs to be protected,” said Sena president Abhishek Joshi said a letter to the Home Minister on Thursday.

Joshi said the Suraksha Sena has condemned in strict terms all the evil-doings of Sarathi and is demanding stringent actions against him. “But in the name of Sarathi, we cannot torture the entire Hindu fraternity. If we start targeting Hindu temples and mutts, then we should also bring mosques, girza and gurudwaras under the net of scrutiny,” he argued.

Sena demands strong action against the persons, NGOs and agencies that are vitiating communal harmony harping on Babas, saints and seers propagating Hinduism in holistic manner. The source of foreign funding must be thoroughly investigated and the persons acting in nexus must be put behind the bar, Joshi demanded.
