Rajnath on bike in Saranda to up Jawans' morale

Published on:

In a bid to boost the morale of security personnel deployed to curb Maoist activities, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh recently travelled through the Saranda jungle driving a motorcycle and reached the CRPF camp comfortably.

Former Forest and Environment Minister Jairam Ramesh had initiated such a travel in the Maoists-infested jungle. The difference between the two is that while Ramesh was a pillion rider of a motorbike driven by a Jawan, Singh was himself driving a vehicle and a Jawan sitting behind him.

Source said the Home Minister visited a CRPF camp at Thalkobad inside the jungle in West Singhbhum district of Jharkhand, about 60 km from here, amid a thick security blanket after landing from an Air Force helipad. He travelled about a kilometer way from the helipad to the CRPF camp.

Singh held a secret meeting with CRPF officers at the camp. Among others, CRPF Assistant Commandant S Prakash, Chainbasa SP N Singh and DIG Arin Singh were present.
