Rajnagar Block Education Officer Prasant Kumar Mohanty on Wednesday suspended In-Charge Headmaster of the Bandhapatana Primary School Pradip Kumar Parida for misappropriation of MDM and SSA funds.
According to official sources, the villagers had earlier alleged before the District Collector that Parida duped around Rs 3 lakh of Sarva Siksha Abiyan funds that was meant for developmental work of the school. Parida had constructed substandard school building and duped the amount, villagers had told the Collector.
Accordingly, an inquiry was conducted on January 10 and it was found that Parida was at fault. The district Collector soon directed the SSA DPC to send an official letter to the BEO to suspend Parida. But, the direction was not implemented.
Angry over it, villagers stage a dharna on Thursday at the school. Baffled over the villager’s dharna, the BEO suspended Parida, sources said.
