A joint eviction team demolished encroachments from Rajmahal Square to AG Square under the Capital police station here on Thursday.
The squad consisting of officials from the BDA, the BMC and the Commissionerate Police bulldozed eight temporary shops, a Siva temple, a Hanuman temple and a Sai temple adjacent to the vending zone near the Unit-I petrol pump. Besides, three AC-sheeted rooms and a toilet adjacent to the Manibaba temple at AG Square were demolished.
BDA Additional Commissioner B.S. Chayani, BMC Zone Deputy Commissioner (South East) Deepak Routray, BDA liasioning Officer Subhransu Sekhar Mohanty and Zone ACP S Behera were present during the eviction.
A platoon of gents APR Force and a section lady force were engaged at the site to maintain law and order. However, only one side eviction was conducted due to rain and shortage of time.
