Governor and Chancellor Dr SC Jamir on Friday appointed Professor Dr Rajendra Prasad Das as the next Vice-Chancellor of the Berhampur University.
Prof Das will succeed Prof Deepak Kumar Behera, whose tenure ends on July 31. Prof Das was selected from a list of three candidates after a personal interview held at the Raj Bhavan on Friday.
Prof Das is presently Director of the Institute of Management at the Pandit Ravishankar Shukla University, Raipur in Chhattisgarh. The appointment is for a period of three years with effect from the date he assumes office or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Prof Das had his post-graduation in Commerce from the Kurukshetra University and did PhD in Management from the same university. He completed FDPM from IIM, Ahmedabad. He has teaching experience of more than 28 years and as a professor for over 13 years. He is at the Pandit Ravishankar Shukla University since 2003.
Regarding his academic experience, he served as Guest Faculty in IIM, Raipur, Reader in Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Business Management under the Vikram University, Ujjain and Core Faculty (PM and IR Area) at the Xavier labour Relations Institute (XlRI), Jamshedpur.
His PhD thesis was on “Recruitment and Selection of Managerial Personnel in Selected Engineering Industrial Undertakings in India”.
Till now, he has guided nine PhD scholars to their degree. He has authored and coauthored a number of books and also has several paper publications to his credit in different journals in India and abroad.
