Widespread rains are likely to occur at many places over the State due to strengthening of the southwesterly wind from the Arabian Sea and daytime heating with the intensity expected to increase from July 6, the Centre for Environment and Climate (CEC) under the SOA University said on Monday.
The rainfall may intensify in coastal and south Odisha districts from July 6 due to a trough from northeast to southwest along the State’s coast and a cyclonic circulation over northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal Odisha, CEC Director Dr SC Sahu said.
The rains are likely to continue till July 10, after which the monsoon intensity is expected to escalate in north Odisha and the coastal districts till July 13, he said.
